OUR STAFF

With over 140 volunteers, Compassionate Care of Shelby County relies on its small staff to coordinate the many services we provide.  Under the direction of our Board of Directors and Trustees, each of our staff members has the knowledge, training, and people skills to carry out the day-to-day responsibilities necessary to serve our patients with confidence and competence.

We didn’t have to search long or hard to find an Executive Director…she “founded” us!

Teresa Ditmer, RN, MS, APRN-BC, CNS remains at the helm of an organization that has seen unprecedented success and support despite economic downturn.  The very existence of Compassionate Care of Shelby County is due to Teresa’s unremitting and enthusiastic commitment to serve and assist others.  With a Bachelor’s degree in biology from Ohio Northern University and a Master’s degree in nursing from Wright State University, Teresa began her career at Wilson Memorial Hospital caring for acutely ill patients and their families.  Since that time, she has worked in intensive care and emergency trauma units, coordinated trauma prevention programs, developed and implemented a new level of care at the Progressive Care Unit at UVMC, and developed medical emergency teams and programs.  She is currently full-time Executive Director at Compassionate Care of Shelby County.  “My professional credentials combined with my God-given abilities made following my dream a no-brainer.  I hope to contribute whatever it takes to ensure that the uninsured of our community are served.”

Ruth Ann Kuntz is our Volunteer Coordinator and all-round problem-solver.  She has been with Compassionate Care of Shelby County since its inception in a variety of roles from trainer to scheduler to organizer, all as a volunteer.  Her faith enables her to see people through God’s love and eyes as she talks, helps, teaches, and prays with patients, staff, volunteers, and co-workers.  She explains that the reason she is so happy, content, and peaceful is because she is confident in her hope for a brighter tomorrow.  She knows that as a servant of Jesus she can share His love and comfort.  And she’s right.

Office Manager, Stacy Stang, was drawn to Compassionate Care’s mission as a faith-based clinic.  “Starting each day with prayer is a special blessing.  It helps all of us orient our day knowing that we are God’s hands and voice to each person we encounter.”  Both staff and volunteers agree that Stacy’s loving attitude can be seen on a daily basis as she ensures that all facets of the clinic run smoothly.  She is the hard-working, go-to person who answers questions, follows up on cases, and makes sure no detail is overlooked.  Her creative, pro-active business know-how and her philosophy that each person we serve is a “unique and wonderful individual” are especially important factors in the overall success of Compassionate Care of Shelby County and the health and well-being of those in our community.

Julie Fogt is our Senior Certified Medical Assistant.  She has to be meticulous as she answers medical questions, conducts triage, precepts students, draws labs, and assists with medication refills. She displays a caring and friendly attitude toward everyone, in part because she truly enjoys all facets of her job.  This includes working as a medical and dental clinician and providing patient care.  After beating stage 4 cancer, Julie knew that God had sent her to CCSC.  “He knew that I needed to give back to others as others had done for me.”

Michelle Mantor is a Certified Medical Assistant at Compassionate Care.  Her genuine concern for people who cannot afford the healthcare they deserve is obvious.  But it’s her happy outlook and her faithful adherence to showing God’s love through her actions that has made her an invaluable member of our staff.  In addition to working triage, Michelle works in the lab, pharmacy, and dental clinic.

Lisa Anderson greets patients at the front office and takes phone calls to schedule appointments.  With her energetic spirit and her reliable friendliness, patients say that making an appointment or explaining their health problems is easier than they ever thought possible.  Lisa enjoys patient contact and is always willing to guide people toward the help they need, even if it is not at Compassionate Care.  Her faith in God enables her to find hope in every situation, and, not surprisingly, her optimistic sense of humor is contagious.

Doretta McAtee serves as a volunteer bookkeeper on our staff.  Doretta has managed corporate payroll and human resources for over twenty years, and has sat on the board of two non-profit organizations. Her expertise in financial management helps us utilize our resources to their fullest potential in serving our patients. Her ability to coordinate changes to an online payroll, time, and attendance system allows us to maximize our employee and volunteer effectiveness. As past Treasurer of CCSC, Doretta continues to volunteer her time to help ensure the stability, continuity, and accuracy of our financial positions in order to maximize our effectiveness and our service to residents of Shelby County.

We are very fortunate to have Valerie Fogt as one of our Certified Medical Assistants at Compassionate Care.  She feels strongly that God intended her to be a part of CCSC as a witness to the patients she serves.  Working with people on a daily basis and caring for their needs is the most enjoyable part of her day.  Valerie schedules dental appointments, participates in triage, performs lab draws, works in the dental clinic and pharmacy, and assists with medication refills.  Her persistent attention to detail allows her to address patient concerns and assure positive results.  Valerie has a wonderful sense of humor as she puts priorities in perspective and makes those around her feel at ease.  Compassionate Care is very lucky to have someone with Valerie’s skills and knowledge working on behalf of Shelby County residents.
